Speeding Permit

Guess who was issued their first speeding permit this weekend? Now, under normal circumstances, a ticket is nothing to blog about. But I swear all I have to do is think about an illegal manuver and a cop poppes up out of nowhere and issues me a big fat citation. Kelly on the other hand seems to slide right by with a verbal warning IF he gets pulled over. So this weekend the officer gave Kelly the information he needed to send his charitable, yet mandatory, $92.00 donation in to the City of Thayne. For some reason he refused my congratulatory high five. :-)

Holidays

The Holidays are always so much fun...(And I'm mad at Ted right now....he just jumped on the computer and messed up the blog! Ahhhhh) Ok as I was saying, we're finally taking a minute to catch up. For Thanksgiving Kelly and I took a week and drove my dad's Harley Davidson to California. It was a blast to say the least.
We took our time and just enjoyed ourselves. That doesn't usually happen on our vacations. We usually end up driving all night to and from to make the most of our few short days. This vacation was much needed. Not to mention California rocks on a motorcycle. We saved ourselves hours of being stuck in traffice by being able to zip between the lanes when traffic was at a stand still. Although I can't lie to you, the first few times we tried it I was reeeeaaaaallly nervous.

On Sunday we stopped at Peggy Sue's 50s style diner and I think I consumed more food there than I did on Thanksgiving. Riding the bike you don't snack the whole time like I normally would in the car. So I ordered a burger and fries with a bowl of soup for starters and didn't even let the waitress finish her sentence about fried pickles before I said I'd take some of those and a pineapple shake. Seriously, I was starved. :)

California was a blast! We visited the beach with Allen and Bekah, went to the Conan Show (and in the process discovered that I'd lost my wallet somewhere in my travels....fortunately it was discovered 3 days later)

Christmas Tree hunting is always one of my favorite activities. I love a good Charlie Brown tree like you can only find blazing your own trails. As I said last year, Kelby is the most important thing to bring with you on your hunt. He's such a hard little worker and is more than happy to do the manual labor. The tree with legs happens to be Kelby. Ted was a super wuss in the snow. We had his coat on him and everything but he kept trying to hold one of his legs off the ground as if that would keep all 4 from getting cold and he kept trying to stake out a snow free spot and stay there with his tail between his legs. So naturally he ended up getting carried most of the time

And while we're speaking of Wyoming and Kelby, I have to tell Kelby's quote of the weekend. He makes me laught so hard because he doesn't even realize just how funny he is. We were at lunch and my dad was telling him about some blood hounds that were for sale. He immediately began begging for them. My dad said, "They are $50 or free to a good home" Kelby instantly shouts, "I HAVE FIFTY DOLLARS!!" haha....I couldn't stop laughing.

And finally, I present to you my Christmas craftiness. I got very ambitious and hand dipped the candles and have actually made 6 wreathes so far....going on 7. I'm loving every minute of it. I can't wait to get Scott and Peggy's tree decorated. (It's a slow work in progress) It's going to be my favorite so far.

I hope everyone is having a most wonderful holiday season!

Baby fix

For everyone back home dying to see precious Hannah Bear...I promised I would deliver. She is a million times better in person....I'm honestly in love. I hope you all enjoy!

Thursday, November 19

Dear Father Time:

This is a formal request. Please, please, please push the hours along just a tad faster! How can hours feel like days and days feel like fortnights? Thanksgiving is almost here and I want to see little miss Hannah, set out on the long awaited Harley ride, and stuff myself until I'm in pain. For now I suppose I will have to sit here and be impatient.........

More Baby

Here are a couple more pictures of Hannah that I managed to coax out of Allen. I can't wait to get down there and take a million pictures of her.

Hannah Leigh Heiner

Take a look at this precious new addition to our world. Today Allen and Bekah had their first child, Hannah Leigh Heiner, weighing in at 7lbs 8oz and 17 inches long. I cannot wait to see this adorable baby girl and let her know who her most favorite Aunt is. :) I bought her "The Monster at the End of This Book" I think that basically gaurantees me the #1 spot. Congrats you two, we are all so happy for you!
P.S......Doesn't Bekah look great. I don't look that good after a night of good sleep, let alone an entire day of labor.

You just had to be there...

You know those stories that are so funny you have to tell them, but you have to be an eye witness to fully understand? That was our trip to Wyo this weekend. Rather than, "We went bowling, we ate popcorn, etc..." I'll tell you about the things that make me laugh, and remind me time and time again of not only why I love my family so much, but where it comes from. Where shall I start...

My grandma found a book in her garage called "The Popup Book of Phobias" it's ironically clever. You turn the page and see yourself peering down from the roof of a sky scraper, or to find an enormous spider or dentists drill bursting off the pages. And while we're speaking about irony, about halfway through the book I discovered that an earwig had fallen out of one of the pages and on the the waistband of my sweatpants. I threw the book of phobias onto the floor and battled it out with my own. Swatting at the area where the nasty creature had been spotted and screaming "Get it off! Get it off! Get it off!" When I couldn't see where it landed I assumed it ended up in my pants, so then had to make sure my britches were clear. Yes, it was quite ironic.

As we were eating lunch at Tootsies Pizza with my dad and my brother's we were making fun of Justis' hair which desperately needs to be cut. Tre' cracked one of his usual hysterics and just as we finished laughing about it, sweet Kelby looks at me and in the most geniune and sincere tone of voice politely asks me, "Did you get that one, Ash?" So sweet....and such a slam. We all laughed so hard because he had absolutely no idea what was funny about his genuine concern. I actually cried I was laughing so hard.

And for the quote of the weekend:
After a couple rounds of bowling we started an intense round of rotating air hockey. My turn was up and I was going to put an end to Tre's scoring streak. It lasted all of one second and the puck slid right in my goal with little or no resistance. At my dissapointment Tre' says, "My favorite is beating little girls." haha....of course it is Tre'.

Friday 13

This morning as I was in the middle of washing my hair I heard a "Oh No! No! No!" and thought to myself, "Hmm, wonder what happened?" Some time later Kelly comes in and says, "So today is definitely Friday the 13th, The coconut creame pie fell out of the fridge, hit the bottom shelf, and landed all over the floor....then I stepped in it." Now, as devistating as the loss of coconut cream pie may be, all I could do was laugh and say, "Well, at least you know how the rest of your day is going to go." And that is just how our day has carried on. Hope your day gets better love!

More fun

Just some more Christmas fun I've been having. Made this pillow out of my material scraps. It's getting closer and I can't wait to get a tree in my house!

Ranger Dog

We bought Ted this adorable jacket on Saturday and he just loves it. It's just way too cute on him. He looks like a little rescue dog or something. I think I'm going to have way too much fun dressing up my dog. He's his Momma's Boysen Doggins!

Finally...

My crock pot and I have become friends and at last I'm starting to get the hang of the domestic world. I managed to make some decent Italian chicken & Potatoes, a tender delicious roast, and some surprisingly good tortilla soup. I'm starting to enjoy it rather than be injured when I cook. There's hope for me yet!

I don't think I need to explain...

This is why I love my Aunt MEllen. Always knows how to make me smile. I love having such a good friend and family member. Never stop making me smile!

Simple Treasures

I don't write about the good stuff on my blog enough. Don't get me wrong...crafts are good stuff. But the good stuff that are the simple joys in life. Like walking to class when the weather is just right, listening to my current song obsession, eating a pop tart, and realizing just how grand life is. The most wonderful thing in my life, that makes it what it is, is Kelly. If someone were to tell me in my teenage years that I could have as much fun at the grocery store with my husband as I would on a dream vacation I would have thought they were insane. But its true, something as simple as a trip to the grocery store with Kelly is as much fun as I will ever need. Life is good...and life with this wonderful man is best. I love you!

Please try to endure my festiveness

And at last....you get a small sneak peak of my craftiness over the past month....I can't wait until I have my dream wood shop someday so I can just create to my hearts content! I could craft all day and never get bored!

My fall pumpkins! I love them! I built a tall skinny one for my front porch...only I didn't have access to the cool sander I used for these so I did my "sanding" with the electric hand saw...definitely not safe...but it turned out cute.
My first real sewing project in the works! it's almost finished. I kills me to comit to fabrics inthe store because I have a hard time visualizing it...but so far I'm stoked about the results.

And last but not least...the Christmas tree decorations I made. I can't wait to get the tree up....but I must. :) And more to come....I just ordered wreath forms in bulk to do wreaths for every man and his dog in Dec....I tend to get ahead of myself, but it's Christmas, right?

"My" dog

Kelly sent me this text message accompanied by this picture today:

"He's your dog today. Haha"

Apparently Ted likes Ramen. I should also note that there are two more packages and a much bigger mess behind the couch.

The Uncureable

The Whos down in Whoville probably don't hold a candle to me. My christmas obsession has already begun. I've gone into full blown craft mode revolving around the holidays. I'm horrible at posting pictures so you are just going to have to use your imaginations. I've already started a Christmas Quilt, made a Christmas CD, and started making the decorations for this years Christmas Tree which I've mentally redecorated at least 5 times in my head. (In my defense...I already made a bunch of Fall decorations, so I had to move onto the next holiday right?) I had so much fun last year for our first Christmas I just can't wait to do it all again. I really hope Kelly survives my festive spirit through the holidays.

To Fly, or Not to Fly

This morning the rooster was crowing awfully early....or should I say that Myron, our duck, was making quite the ruckus at an unhealthy hour. It was so loud I thought it was right outside the bedroom window, which happens to be the driveway and also impossible because he can't fly. I finally relented and got going for the day, the entire time wondering what his problem was out there. When I walked out to leave there he was squaking and trying to figure out how to get back on the other side of the fence where he belongs. The only logical explanation is he flew out....but he can't fly! Or can he? So I opened the gate and he went running right back where he came from. I'm assuming he's a fan of his domestic captivity as opposed to the other side of the fence.

Do-Not-Disturb

I don't think this needs any explanations....it's hilarious. But I should say that I didn't notice it, I just burst through the door and started talking about my day until Kelly said to Ted, "She didn't read the sign" Oops! Looks like nap time is over. This is why I love my husband.

Giving Thanks

I have to take a moment to say just how thankful I am....at least as far as words can descibe. I think its too easy to have a bad day at work and forget just how lucky I am to have so many wonderful people in my life.
First of all, my husband. Kelly is my greatest blessing. He's wise and mature beyond his years but is never too serious not to enjoy my weird jokes or make me laugh when I need it most. I'm so proud of him for who he is, the responsibility he has, and the decisions he makes. I will willingly endure anything this life throws at me to be with Kelly forever.
My Dad. Aside from being the best true friend I had growing up he taught me everything I know about being an adult and the responsibilities of life. He taught me to make logical and thought out decisions and to accept the consequences of those actions without excuses or passing the buck. All of this I learned from his example and the things he does because its what's right, not what other people will see or think. He has edured the impossible and I am so proud of him for never losing himself.
My In-Laws....I honestly can't say enough good things about them. I know that they aren't just my family because I'm married to Kelly. We're family because I love them unconditionally and I know they would do absolutely anything for me no questions asked. Peggy is an amazing woman, I admire her for her amazing patience, always being a genuinly good person and for the things she says with her silence. She has become a very special friend to me. Scott is so full of good advice that I always come away with a greater perspective on things and is such an honest person. I always know that the Scott I see is the one I get. And whether he knows it or not has inspired me spiritually on many occations. And where would I be without Steph? I am so happy to have a friend and sister that is so much fun. She keeps my days sunny, listens to my ranting, knows too much about me, and is always good to talk to. She's made me feel so comfortable as a Muir and we have a friendship that is only going to get stronger as the years go by.
And My Aunts Suzanne and MEllen. I owe them more thanks than I can give to these two. Always loving and helping me unconditionally. Treating me like I was their own daughter and loving me through the good and the bad. I don't even know where to begin how wonderful they both are, always doing what's right and capable of anything, these are the two strongest women, physically, spiritually, and Mentally, that I have ever known.
I could go on for days of all the people who have blessed my life but I am thankful to each and every person who has made me who I am, helped me become stronger, and been there for me when I've needed them. You are the ones who help make my life the wonderful adventure that it is.

I'm Lazy...

Lots of things I could blog about have happened....like our trip to Las Vegas where we arrived at 4:30 AM...where both of us slept from Scipio to Cedar City. (Ok, that's a joke...but seriously...we were tired) School's been good....we've been to Wildoming a lot, and harvested more tomoates that we know what to do with and saved $55.00 shopping at Smith's the other day....but when all of that is said and done I'm simply too lazy to do any serious blogging. But Fall is here....my favorite season, and Christmas is right around the corner...lots of exciting things are coming up so I'll start eating my Wheaties and maybe, just maybe, my blog will be a tad more exciting. (Let's just hope I don't wrap my fingers in the eggbeater this year....not that kind of excitement)

Monday, September 14

Today I ate half a pan of the most delicious brownies this side of the Mississippi. Quite satisfying

How do you get mad when he's sooo cute!

No, I'm not talking about Kelly (although he is pretty cute too), I'm talking about Ted. That adorable, yet terrible, creature we call our dog. He likes to chew on things that's for certain...
Earlier this week I pulled my phone out of my pocket and it was broken, well... it just shuts itself down (Probably out of fear that I will be using it) and has to be taken apart and reassebled to get it to work again. (My dad says that my pants must be too tight...) So we visited AT&T only to find that my phone is out of its warranty by 2 weeks. Of course! So Ted, the sweetheart that he is, decided that it was now an abject that would be ok to chew on. I picked my phone up off the night stand to discover little teeth marks all over the touch screen and edges. ("This is why we can't have nice things!!!" Is what I'm thinking) Needless to say, we are now waiting on a less hight tech, yet hopefully indesctructable, cellular device to arrive tomorrow.

PIONEER DAY

For the 24th Kelly & I hosted a celebration at our place. Complete with slip-n-slide, Fire Works, and an outdoor movie. I told Brendan that Kelly and I organized the fireworks that were shooting from the golf course...now he knows who throws the coolest parties. :)

I also challenged Kelly to a duel of the Slip-n-slide...if you ask me, I totally won. I'll let you be the judge:

Here we go with Round 1....let's call it a warm-up

Now for Round 2: Where things get a little more interesting...

This here is your classic foot slide that was very well executed. Difficulty Rating: 10; Also has a very similar appearance to our lovely Statue of Liberty.

This is where I took the commanding lead with this unique beauty of a slide. This was actually and attempt at the "Sexy Lady" pose but when the camera snaps and the precise moment you can clearly see the subliminal message I was leaving...That there is Michael Phelps. Who wouldn't take the competition hands down after striking a pose of the 14 time Olympic Gold Medalist. The judges hands are tied.

Here are some more pictures of the fun before we settled down for Fireworks and The movie on the projector. Brendan, Emma, and I didn't last more than 10 minutes tbefore it turned into backyard camping though. I think all the slash action earlier had us all tuckered out.

Thanks to everyone for coming! We had such a fun time and hope to do it again soon. We love you all!

A girl can dream right?

This is the front view of my dream home. In a perfect world I will have one very similar some day.
